The Buffalo Sabres have signed No. 1 overall pick Rasmus Dahlin to a three-year entry-level deal the team announced Monday.

The 18-year-old defenceman was the third player taken first overall by the Sabres in their history, joining Gilbert Perreault (1970) and Pierre Turgeon (1987).

Since the draft, Dahlin has impressed at Sabres prospect camp.
"He got the puck on the blue line and I was going toward him, and he just put it between my legs and went in and scored," forward Victor Olofsson said.
"I thought it was a fluke at first," he said. "But when he did it again and again, it's not just a fluke."
He spent last year in the Swedish Hockey League, appearing in 41 games with Frolunda HC and totaling seven goals and 13 assists.
The Sabres finished last season at 25-45-12 to miss the playoffs for the seventh season in a row.
